Abstract : The early stages of a project to establish trial plantings of a variety of crops in the coastal KwaZulu-Natal region, which was previously devoted mainly to sugarcane cultivation but which also supports successful Citrus (primarily grapefruit) production, are reported. The crops being planted include bananas, avocados, mangoes, litchis, guavas, coffee, pawpaws and macadamias.
