Abstract : Studies were carried out in Uttar Pradesh, India, on the bionomics and control of Drosicha mangiferae (Green), a major pest of mango. Descriptions of all stages are given. Damage was mainly caused by nymphs and adult females, which sucked sap from young shoots. Female laid about 300-350 eggs each in the soil during the second and third weeks of May, and hatching occurred at the end of the following January. The pupal period of the males lasted 50-57 days. When sprays of 10 insecticides for control of the mealy bug were evaluated in the field in 1971, 0.03% monocrotophos was the best, producing 88.4% mortality of nymphs and adults.
