Abstract : Isoenzyme patterns were investigated for 26 strains of X. c. pv. mangiferaeindicae isolated from 3 different host species in 8 countries. Esterase (EST), phosphoglucomutase (PGM) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme systems were used. Non pigmented strains were isolated from mango and Schinus terebinthifolius in Australia, Comores, India, Réunion Island, South Africa and Taiwan. Other non-pigmented strains were obtained from mango in Brazil and from Spondias dulcis in the French West Indies. Heterogeneous yellow pigmented strains were isolated from mango in Brazil and Reunion Island. The value of isoenzyme profiling as makers of the pathogenicity groups in X. c. pv. mangiferaeindicae is discussed.
