Abstract : The thrips Selenothrips rubrocinctus (Giard) has recently been found in Kerala, India, on cashew (Anacardium occidentale), Eugenia jambos, mango (Mangifera indica) and guava (Psidium guayava). It was found in laboratory investigations on the amino-acid contents of infested and uninfested leaves of the four food-plants that there were increased concentrations of certain amino-acids in all the infested leaves and that additional amino-acids not normally present in cashew leaves were present when these had been infested by the thrips.
