Abstract : Mass-rearing of the calliphorid Chrysomya megacephala, an effective pollinator of mangoes, was developed in the laboratory. Fish meal for the larvae, and sugar, milk powder and yeast extract for the adults, are suitable for mass-rearing in terms of cost and nutritional effectiveness. Irradiating pupae with gamma radiation at 100 Gy reduced adult emergence. The sterilizing dose was 40 Gy, and adults from pupae treated at 300 Gy died within one week.
