Abstract : The yeasts Cryptococcus luteolus and Piccha farinosa [Pichia farinosa] were mass produced individually and together using sugarcane molasses. Aqueous suspensions of these substances were attractive to Anastrepha obliqua. Suspensions of C. luteolus and P. farinosa produced individually and together, and aqueous suspensions of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, S. carlsbergensis [S. uvarum] and Torula yeast pellets were tested as baits for A. obliqua in a mango orchard in Venezuela. All 6 suspensions were attractive to A. obliqua, with the greatest captures in traps baited with Torula yeast pellets and a mixture of C. luteolus and P. farinosa.
