Abstract : This book, written by 23 contributors, gives the most up-to-date recommended procedures for obtaining and introducing germplasm of each of the major tropical crops. Crops are arranged in 11 sections including cereals, grain legumes, tuber and root crops and fibre crops. In addition to the general references, there are references given at the end of each crop section.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:Procedures are briefly set out for the collection, disinfection, packing, shipment, short-term storage and planting of seeds and other propagation material of cereals and tuber and root crops; Phaseolus beans, tomatoes, cucurbits and capsicums; citrus, bananas and mangoes; oil and coconut palms; coffee, cacao and tea; spices; fibres; sugar cane and rubber.
