Abstract : Fruits of the cultivar Haden, harvested at the green preclimacteric stage and treated with Ca2+ by dipping or infiltration in 4-6% CaCl2 solution, were held at 15°C and 85-90% RH for up to 20 days. The CaCl2 treatments extended fruit storage life by 7 days compared with the matured controls. No marked differences in effect were observed between the 2 methods, but dipping is recommended as being easier to apply.
