Abstract : Seeds of 8 short-growing and 8 medium-height cultivars were germinated outdoors in plastic bags (June-September) over 120 days. Seeds of the tall cultivars Hilacho and Bocado, which are traditionally used as rootstocks, served as controls. Germination was assessed weekly and data are tabulated on the number of germinated seeds at each date, the percentage of the total number sown, the average number of days to germinate, coefficient of germination rate, and germination value. The most promising cultivars for use as rootstocks were Ceniap-2 (short) and Pico'e Loro (medium-height), both being polyembryonic.
