Abstract : The effects of grafting method (inarch grafting, side grafting with T-shape, side veneer grafting and modified top grafting) on the growth of mango (cv. Himdi-Be-Sinnara), grafted on 9-month-old mango rootstocks (0.9-1.1 cm in diameter), were investigated. Grafts were carried out on 1 May 1987 and 1988. The best success after 1 year was obtained following modified top grafting (85.5 and 82.8% success in 1987 and 1988, respectively) and side veneer grafting (80.7 and 81.4% success in 1987 and 1988). After 1 year of growth, the largest seedlings were obtained following side veneer grafting; modified top grafted seedlings had the shortest length and the smallest diameter, leaf number and total leaf area. Histological studies revealed that wounds healed 1-2 months earlier in side veneer and T-shaped-side grafts compared with the other 2 methods.
