Abstract : Patch budding was superior to shield budding and results in May were better than in April or June. With both methods, cutting back the stock above the scion after 10 days was better than immediate cutting. In marcotting studies using different rooting media and wrapping materials, the most successful treatment was with sphagnum moss plus vermiculite wrapped with polythene and then with gunny sacking. The subsequent establishment of marcots was more successful in soil than in sand.
