Abstract : Floral and vegetative activity and shoot flux density of 3-year-old mango cv. Haden trees on Criollo de Bocado rootstock were studied in response to light summer pruning (on 19 June 1993) combined with foliar sprays of 6% potassium nitrate or calcium nitrate (on 5 November 1993). This study was carried out in Aragua, Venezuela. After pruning there was a significant decrease in total shoots per canopy surface, but 62 days after pruning that difference was no longer evident. By 174 days after pruning, there was no significant effect either on floral and vegetative activities or on shoot flux densities. Potassium nitrate application significantly increased both generative and mixed shoot flux densities. On the other hand, calcium nitrate only increased generative bud break.
