Abstract : The Sundi of Kindamba (Congo) use 19 plant species to treat diarrhoea. In the Sundi traditional phytotherapy of diarrhoea, 18 recipes have been recorded from 10 mothers and 2 healers in Kindamba. These recipes include 19 species often used separately. The species most often used are Garcinia huillensis (cited 8 times), Mangifera indica (8), Psidium guajava (6), Alchornea cordifolia (6), Hymenocardia acida (4) and Trema orientalis (4). Ten species have already been cited in Congo and other African countries as antidiarrhoeic but the role of 9 species is indicated for the first time.
