Abstract : In harvested mango fruit, 3 minute exposure to short wave infra-red (IR) was as effective as the commercially used 5 minute hot water bath treatment in controlling anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata]) and soft brown rot (Nattrassia mangiferae). There were no significant differences between IR and the hot water treatments in their effect on fruit quality. The IR treatment is much cheaper and faster than the hot water treatment.
