Biochemical aspects of the mechanism of resistance to Ceratocystis fimbriata Ell. & Hals in mango (Mangifera indica L.).

Abstract : In experiments carried out for three years in June-July (winter), the extracts from young, healthy branches of the resistant variety Jasmin exhibited a pronounced fungitoxic effect on spore germination and on in vitro mycelial growth. Extracts from the susceptible variety Haden had a very slight or no inhibitory effect on the pathogen. Experiments carried out in December-January (summer) revealed no differences between the varieties in fungitoxicity.
