Abstract : Abundant pycnidia that developed on the infected bark of the stems and twigs of young mango plants were the best means of survival of M. mangiferae. The fungus also survived in blighted leaves and as dormant mycelium in the wood. Blight of young mango plants could be successfully controlled by 4 sprays of 0.3% Captaf [captan], 1% Bordeaux mixture, captafol (0.2%), 0.1% carbendazim (as Bavistin) and 0.1% thiophanate-methyl (as Topsin-M) starting from the first week of July and repeating at fortnightly intervals in the Indian Punjab.
