Abstract : P. mangiferae causes leaf blight and brown spot of mango in Konkan, Maharashtra, India. The disease was recorded particularly in the summer at temp. of 28-30°C. P. mangiferae grew well in vitro under conditions of continuous light or alternate light and darkness. Light played an important role in sporulation. The opt. temp. for growth was 27-30°. The ability of carbendazim, copper oxychloride, difolatan and Bordeaux mixture to inhibit fungal growth was determined in vitro. Bordeaux mixture and carbendazim totally inhibited growth and pycnidia formation. The host range of the pathogen was also studied.
