Abstract : Studies undertaken to investigate the seasonal incidence and the nature of damage of different species of mango hoppers (Amritodus atkinsoni, Idioscopus niveosparsus and I. clypealis) in Dharwad, Karnataka, India, during 1975-76 indicated that the adults of all these species were found on mango throughout the year. Breeding of hoppers was noticed during June-July, September-November and January-April. Among these species, A. atkinsoni and I. niveosparsus were breeding both on tender leaves and flowers, whereas I. clypealis was breeding only on flowers and thus caused maximum injury to flowers. The population of A. atkinsoni and I. niveosparsus was greater in the egg season compared with I. clypealis. During the flowering season the populations of all three species were found to increase considerably and among them, I. clypealis was dominant.
