Abstract : The efficiency of urea as an attractant for Anastrepha spp. was studied in a mango orchard in Maracay, Aragua State, Venezuela, during January-April 1991. The attractants used in the 1st trial were Torula yeast borax, 10% urea, Nulure and a compound of Torula. The attractants used in the 2nd trial were 20, 30 and 40% urea and Torula yeast borax. In the 3rd trial, the attractants were Torula yeast borax, and 40, 50, 60 and 70% urea. Although urea was not the best attractant, it was a viable alternative due to the ease of obtaining it and low cost.
