Utilisation of forest by-products in livestock production - an overview.

Abstract : The use of forest byproducts as an alternative feed source [in India] is examined. Apart from tree leaves (e.g. bamboo, neem, mulberry) which are presently used for fodder production, dry fallen tree leaves (e.g. teak, mango) can also be used to feed livestock. The nutritional constraints in feeding tree leaves and dry leaves, methods for improving their nutritive value and the economics involved are also presented.
