Abstract : Mango cv. Dashehari was treated with 200 ppm NAA, 0.05% diazinon, 0.2% Dithane M-45 [mancozeb] and 0.2% borax in 12 different combinations. NAA treatment at 200 ppm improved the vegetative growth, increased carbohydrate, C:N ratio, dry matter accumulation and mineral content in shoots and minimized the incidence of flower malformation. These parameters were further boosted when diazinon, Dithane M-45 and borax were also applied in conjunction with NAA. The results indicated that the malformation could be due to an imbalance between growth promoters and growth inhibitors leading to a depression of apical dominance.
