Abstract : A study was conducted to seek the opinions and suggestions of 51 randomly selected Indian farmers regarding six research activities shown to them at the Regional Research Station, Brahmavar, during September 1993. Nearly half of the farmers were between 36 and 50 years of age, while only 12% were more than 50 years of age. The study also revealed that 45% of farmers were only educated up to primary school level, and that 82% relied solely upon agriculture to make a living. The four research activities most appreciated by farmers were high yielding rice cultivars, mango cultivars, grafting on cashew and sugarcane cultivars. Popular suggestions were that Krishimela should be organized every year and that more emphasis should be placed on vegetable research.
