Effect of growth retardants (B-Nine and Cycocel) on vegetative growth and yield of phalsa (Grewia asiatica L.).

Abstract : G. asiatica is useful as a filler crop in litchi and mango groves provided its height is controlled. B-Nine [daminozide] and Cycocel [chlormequat] were sprayed on young growth at 1000, 2000 or 4000 p.p.m. Both compounds progressively reduced the number of nodes, leaf area and total shoot length with increasing concentrations, and there was also a tendency to increased yield.
