Abstract : The life cycle of the citrus woolly whitefly (Aleurothrixus floccosus) is briefly described. It is predominantly a citrus pest, but has also been reported on coffee, guava, mango and aubergines. Based on surveys undertaken in April-June 1995, data are tabulated on the distribution of the pest in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Zambia, with data also given on its distribution by altitude in those countries. The infestation was generally low. It was worst in Kenya, followed by Uganda, and tended to be more serious at higher altitudes. Infestations are reported both in citrus orchards and in home gardens.
