Abstract : This note from Northern Territory, Australia, describes aspects of mango scab. The disease is caused by Elsinoë mangiferae and has been observed in Cuba, USA, South East Asia and Australia. The disease occurs primarily in swampy low-lying areas. It has also been observed in mango nurseries. Symptoms are most noticeable on the fruit and consist of small black lesions which develop into larger scars when lesions join. On stems, slightly raised, grey, oval lesions appear while on the leaves, brown spots appear with haloes, edge lesions, corky lesions and elongated dark lesions. Recommendations for the control of the disease are provided.
