Abstract : The fruits from Pyrus communis, Irvingia gabonensis (locally called Oro) and Mangifera indica, collected from a market in Nigeria, were analysed for their anatomical fractions, proximate and mineral composition. The total weight of the fruits ranged between 98.14±1.23 to 281.55±3.55 g. I. gabonensis had the highest protein content in the epicarp and mesocarp while M. indica had the lowest protein content. Moisture content was high in all the fruits. The mesocarp of all the fruits contained a low amount of crude fibre. The epicarp of the fruits contained magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium and copper while the mesocarp contained zinc, nickel and iron. The cobalt content of all fruits was low.
