Abstract : Tango, a mango (Mangifera indica) cultivar derived from a cross between Naomi (as the female parent) and either Tomy Atkins or Keitt (as the male parent), was distributed to growers in Israel in 1992. Tango fruits ripen in midseason (August to September) in Israel and the trees grow to ~3.5 m after 5 years. Inflorescence and fruit characteristics are described. Fruits average 380 g in weight and can be stored for 13 days at 20°C and for 21 days at 14°. The orange-coloured flesh is juicy with a mild, sweet and sour flavour, and a mild aroma.
