Abstract : Shelly is a mango (Mangifera indica) cultivar selected in 1989 from a cross made in 1985 in Israel between Tomy Atkins (as the female parent) and Keitt (as the male parent). Shelly is late ripening and is harvested at the end of September to mid-November in the coastal plain of Israel. Shelly trees are small (~ 2 m in height at 5 years) and spreading in habit. Fruit weight ranges from 350 to 700 g (average of 500 g) and mature fruit can remain firm and attractive up to 30 days after picking at room temperature. Flesh is juicy and orange with a firm texture and scarce fibres. Flavour is mild and slightly sweet.
