Abstract : Mangoes are produced in more than 100 countries throughout both the tropics and the subtropics, and from many of these they are exported. The total world production in 1994 was 18?450 × 10³ tonnes. In recent years production in the subtropics has increased. Except for southeastern Asia, Australia and some African countries, which cultivate mostly locally selected varieties, the majority of countries produce cultivars developed in Florida, USA, i.e. Haden, Tommy Atkins and Keitt.
