Abstract : In transverse sections of successful side and veneer graft unions parenchymatous cells proliferated from both the stock and scion. It was further observed that the thin walled cells of xylem rays in most recently formed xylem, cambial layers and most recently formed phloem rays were involved in the production of the callus tissues. The vascular meristem appeared first where the cambium of the stock and the scion were in contact with the callus tissues. Differentiation of the normal secondary xylem and secondary phloem from cambial layers in callus was observed.
