Abstract : Measures for preventing damage and assisting in the recovery of fruit trees after natural disasters in Taiwan are described. Damage due to excessively low and high temperatures, flooding, drought and typhoons is covered. The first part of the manual reviews the effects of these extreme environmental conditions on the growth and physiology of fruit trees. The second part gives accounts of preventative measures and recovery techniques for different environmental extremes for bananas, melons, guavas, pineapples, carambolas, mangoes, custard apples, litchis, longans, mandarins, loquats, grapes, pears, peaches, plums and apricots.
