Abstract : Results of trials some conducted in St Lucia to investigate the effects of Cultar [paclobutrazol] and potash on flowering and out-of-season fruit production of mango cultivars Julie (4 mango estates), Graham (3 estates) and Long (1 estate) are summarized [for details of treatments see Tropical Fruits Newsletter (1996) No. 21, 6-8]. At the Fond Estate, Cultar treatment increased the total number of fruits produced by cv. Julie compared with the control treatment, but the number of fruits produced out-of-season was low. At Devaux, Cultar and potash treatments induced early flowering of cv. Julie and gave a higher total number of fruits and a higher number of fruits out-of-season. Neither potash nor Cultar were successful in producing fruits out-of-season in cv. Graham.
