Abstract : The effects of defoliation (6, 8 or 10 days prior to detachment from mother plant) and storage (0, 3 or 6 days) of bud wood on grafting success were investigated in mangoes cv. Dashehari, grown in India. The best treatment for promoting successful grafting was defoliation 8 days prior to detachment + 3 days storage. This treatment promoted early sprouting (13.58 days), highest success (84.07%), and highest survival after 6 months (81.97%).
