Abstract : The bioefficacy of a number of insecticidal combinations for controlling mango leaf-gall midge (P. matteiana) on 8-year-old trees of mango cv. Amrapali was tested in 1991-93 in Anand, Gujarat, India. The first insecticidal spray was applied at the appearance of gall-midge infestation on young leaves, while the second spray of a different insecticide was applied 15 days later during September-October. Insecticide schedules consisting of 0.03% phosphamidon + 0.03% dimethoate and 0.03% dimethoate + 0.05% malathion were effective and economical for P. matteiana control. Schedules consisting of 0.036% monocrotophos + 0.05% quinalphos and 0.03% phosphamidon + 0.07% endosulfan were also effective in preventing gall midge infestation on young mango leaves.
