Abstract : Untreated fruits harvested in July rotted with anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata]) more than those harvested in August. Rotting was reduced by immersing fruits for 10-30 min in water at 52-54 deg C or 5-10 min in water at 56 deg . Fungus infections were not eradicated by hot water treatment, but lesions did not increase in size nor did further lesions appear if treated fruits were stored for a number of days after treatment. The most suitable storage period was one week at 20 deg.
