Abstract : During a survey of mango orchards in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1997/98, nearly 40% were infested with Orthaga euadrusalis. Failure by some 70% of farmers to apply the recommended control measures of 1 or 2 sprays of 0.4% carbaryl, 0.06% quinalphos or 0.05% monocrotophos, which resulted in a 2-fold increase in the number of webs on trees, emphasised the necessity of controlling the pest by August.
