Abstract : The article concerns mango production in the districts of Kitui and Machakos in Kenya. Traditional production is mostly of a low-quality crop in many varieties for the local market. Recently, small groups of female producers have been concentrating on drying their crop, using the natural method of exposure to the sun. The article assesses the possibility of this innovation receiving the requisite certification for export to Europe.
