Abstract : An analysis of the meteorological factors in the different mango producing districts revealed that low temperatures and rainy days in the flowering period were the main reasons for the great reduction in mango production in 1997. The average temperature in the flowering period in most districts was 13.8-16.9°C, much lower than the optimum temperature of 20°C; 6-11 rain days in the flowering period badly affected pollination. It was recommended that the flowering period be modulated according to the weather forecast and that the stress-resistant cv. Jinxumang should be grown.
