High production cultural measures for hillside mango orchards.

Abstract : During 1986-96 an experiment was carried out with 5 mango cultivars planted on a red soil area of 0.75 ha. with pH 5.5-6.5 and organic matter content of 0.68% in the 0-40 cm soil layer. Through building contour terraces, planting top grade planting materials of the promising cultivar Chuanmang at spacings of 4 × 4.5 m, growing a green manure crop between rows, scientifically applying fertilizers, pruning and carefully controlling the diseases and pests, after 9 years of bearing the cumulative production reached 126 t and received high returns.
