Abstract : In a trial in 1995 and 1996 in Minia governorate, Egypt, 18-year-old Hindy Bissinara mangoes on a sandy loam soil were given the recommended N rate of 900 g N as ammonium sulfate or with 20, 33 or 50% of the N supplied as filter cake from sugarcane processing or as farmyard manure. In both years, fruit yield per tree was highest with filter mud supplying 33 or 50% of the N. Fruit TSS, reducing sugar and ascorbic acid contents were also highest in the treatments.
