Abstract : The effect of etiolation and juvenility on the rooting of mango (cv. Kurukkan) air layers was studied. Etiolated shoots were also treated with IBA at 5000 ppm. Juvenile shoots gave significantly higher rooting and survival percentages (65.60 and 71.13%, respectively) than non-juvenile shoots (52.58 and 52.84%, respectively). The length of primary and secondary roots and the number of primary roots were significantly greater on juvenile shoots than on non-juvenile shoots. Etiolation only significantly increased the number of roots on juvenile shoots.
