Effect of spraying nutrients and chemicals on vegetative growth and flowering in "off" phase Alphonso mango trees.

Abstract : In a trial near Dharwad, 40-year-old Alphonso mango trees were sprayed with 1% urea alone or combined with 1 or 2% KNO3 and/or 1 or 2% KH2PO4. Applying urea + 2% KH2PO4 had the greatest stimulatory effect on vegetative growth but inhibited flowering. Fruit yields in the year after treatment were highest with urea combined with 1% KH2PO4 or 1% KNO3 (211 and 201 fruits/tree, respectively).
