Abstract : Investigations were conducted in West Bengal, India, during 1995 and 1997 to study the effect of 3 foliar applications, at panicle emergence, pea stage and marble stage, of urea (2, 3 or 4%) on yield, physicochemical characters of fruits and leaf N contents. Three applications of 4% urea resulted in the highest fruit yield/tree (mean 41.7 kg/tree), and the highest TSS and total sugar contents. However, fruit weight was highest (259 g) with 3% urea. Foliar application of urea significantly increased leaf N content.
