The effect of storage temperature on quality and decay percentage of 'Pairi' and 'Taimour' mango fruits.

Abstract : Fruit of the mango cvs Pairi and Taimour were stored at 0 deg C for 5, 10, 15 or 20 days, 5 deg for 20 days, 10 deg for 20 days, or 15 deg for 20 days before being transferred to room temperature. Controls were held throughout at room temperature (20-25 deg ). Under all conditions Taimour fruit had better keeping quality and storage ability and a longer marketing period than Pairi. Chilling damage followed storage at 0 deg , increasing in severity in proportion to storage duration. The best storage temperature was 5 deg , followed by 10 deg
