Abstract : Matoumang is a local mango variety which originated as a chance seedling. The trees are vigorous, precocious and productive, with 10-year-old trees yielding 30-37.5 t/ha. It is suitable for tropical and subtropical climates and red soils. The fruits mature at the end of June to mid-July, and are medium in size, weighing around 200 g. The skin is thin with a yellow or greenish-yellow colour, and the flesh is orange-red, fine and tender with a few fibres and an acid-sweet flavour (soluble solids content 16-19%).
