Abstract : Urea and double superphosphate at 2% or 4% were applied singly or in combination in December, April and August. Urea significantly increased panicle length, duration of flowering, fruit set and final yield/panicle, and reduced sex ratio and the percentage of fruit drop. Phosphorus also increased panicle length, flowering duration and fruit set. NP combinations resulted in earlier panicle emergence and generally improved all flowering and fruiting characteristics.
