Variation in foliar Ca, Mg and micronutrient contents in mango cv. Manila.

Abstract : A small mango grove, 31 years old, located at the Campo Experimental Cotaxtla in Mexico, was used for leaf sampling every month for 24 months. Chemical analysis of leaves was done on a dry weight basis for Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn. Based on fruit production, 4 phenological phases could be identified. Six vegetative flushes were registered during 24 months. Panicles arose from them when flushes were between 7 and 20 months old. Foliar concentrations of Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn showed different patterns of behaviour and did not differ between phenological phases, although there were differences between flushes which bore fruits and those which did not and concentrations varied with time.
