Abstract : Incidence of mango stem-end rot was evaluated on 5118 hectares of mango in the Piura area of Peru. Results indicated that L. theobromae [Botryodiplodia theobromae] was the causal agent of this disease. This pathogen was detected in all evaluated areas, and the percentage of affected plants fluctuated from 0.02% in San Isidro in the San Lorenzo district, to 1.83% in Lagunas in the Alto Piura district. In spite of the low percentages of incidence, the distribution of this pathogen is thought potentially damaging to mangos in the area studied.
