Abstract : Ripening mangoes, cv. Kensington, packed in commercial cardboard cartons and artificially infested with eggs or larvae of D. tryoni were fumigated with ethylene dibromide (EDB) at 18-24 g/m3 for 2 h at 20 deg C. Fumigation with EDB at 20 g/m3 gave complete control. The maximum inorganic bromide residue amounted to 5.8 p.p.m. after 7 days (the legal tolerance limit in Australia being 20 p.p.m.).
