Abstract : Changes in soil physical and biological properties due to different farming systems and management practices were studied in Bangalore, India. Erosion and soil loss was greater in plantation crops compared to soil under agriculture systems. Bulk density, mean weight diameter, dispersion ratio and soil water content were highest in soil under mango, intermediate in mulberry soils and low in soils under agriculture and coconut. Dehydrogenase activity was higher in agricultural soils compared to other farming systems.
